"No one calls me Galahad now, save you alone, and the Druid who gave me that name. In Brittany and in the field I am Lancelet."

Lancelet
30 January 2009 @ 09:58 pm
Location: Isle of Priests
Action: Waiting for Arthur's crowning
Characters: Morgaine, Lancelet

The bad thing about a crowning, Lancelet reflected, was that there was a disheartening lack of women present. The few there were of the matronly sort, and somehow he didn't they would be much sport. A part of him wished he were still on the field, for fighting seemed immensely agreeable compared to waiting around. That being said, he would not have missed this day for anything. Although at their parting, Arthur had not seemed very proud, Lancelet's feelings more than made up for that. He remembered when they first met---Lancelet showing off to a few of Sir Ectorius's stable boys in the dead of night, the lanky young man that had been particularly unremarkable slipping off the roof, the ride through the night, the golden-haired boy clinging to his horse like a thorn, the only one to keep up with Lancelet. Lancelet had been bidden to leave shortly after that, for he had just been passing through, but he did not go without catching the young horse-boy's name: Arthur.

And now Arthur, barely older than when he rode under the stars, was to be king. No maiden ever seemed so just or fair to Lancelet as this. He hoped, for Arthur's sake, nothing would go wrong.
